For those of you that would normally be heading out to Quiet Valley Ranch on Thursday night for the opening of Folk Festival, all is not lost … Jackopierce, an acoustic duo with their feet firmly planted in Folk rock, is playing the Arcadia!
Celebrating 30 years of making music, Jack O’Neill and Cary Pierce – the “Jack O” and “Pierce” of the seminal duo Jackopierce – bring their high energy live show to Arcadia Live this Thursday, May 27, in support of their first studio project in 5 years — Feel This Good.
Formed in 1988, the Dallas-based duo has released 10 studio albums, toured 3 continents, 9 countries, and 45 states, amassing millions of loyal fans along the way. They have shared the stage with John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Matchbox20, Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, and Sheryl Crow, among many others.
The Houston Chronicle says that Jackopierce “puts an emphasis on hook and harmony… More than 30 years after releasing its debut album, the duo gets by with the same plan it had all those years ago … the well-crafted alterna-folk-pop song remains a rare thing, and one they do well.”
Local country-western band, Carlos & Dan and the Silver Bullets, returns to the Arcadia Live stage. This group covers country hits that will make you want to get up and dance so don’t forget to wear your cowboy boots!
This is a General Admission show.

Tides, a Contemporary Ballet, will grace the Arcadia Live stage on June 3rd & 4th! This show will feature a live orchestra & ballet with original compositions and choreography by local talents, Kä Neunhoffer and Libbie Horton. Tides is sponsored by Big Seed- All performers are young artists from across the Hill Country!

About Neunhoffer & Horton’s previous 2020 show, Hill Shapes:
“The Guadalupe can be a source of relief from the hot summer sun, a source of joy, and also a violent power of destruction that comes sweeping in the night. Like the people of the hill country, nature reflects the fickle changes of time and how something can be both beautiful and have its flaws. Hill Shapes is a close-up picture of the hill country and a few of its historical events. Lean in and take a closer look at the unique landscapes, the chronicles of our town, and a dark betrayal.
Hill Shapes is a collaborative effort with composer Kä Neunhoffer and choreographer Libbie Horton to make a modern chamber ballet to bring life to some of the historic stories of central Texas and contribute to artistry in this community that raised us and built the foundations of our own lives and artistic careers.”
“The Teague Brothers Band’s 2019 debut album Harvest Day earned widespread acclaim from critics and fans, and the tracks “Coyote” and “Fingers and Thumbs” became surprise regional hits. On the Teague Brothers Band’s new single “American Folk Song” John’s emotionally precise songwriting explores the trials and triumphs of real life. While songwriting has earned John a reputation as one of the Lone Star state’s most skilled young artists, the Teague Brothers Band have earned the loyalty of fans thru high-energy live performances. “We love playing music people can dance to, but we also do stuff that’s less dancy and a little more rock ‘n’ roll,” Teague asserts. “We fit in in dancehalls, larger concerts, and listening rooms. Wherever they’ll let us through the door.” (https://teaguebrothersband.com)
Derek Richards:
“A regular on the Las Vegas Strip, Derek’s act is fast, fresh, and at times, fanatical. He brings the funny with tales about his Irish-Catholic upbringing, divorce, the holidays, and his child-free existence. Described on a show review as, ‘Just the right amount of wrong.’”
Jim Holder
“Jim started his career at The Comedy Workshop in Houston, Texas, home of the “Texas Outlaw Comics” such as Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks. From those early influences, Jim developed the passion for stand-up comedy that he carries today.
With an attitude aimed at making people laugh uncontrollably, Jim strikes incredibly close to home with his deceptively-friendly, yet cynical descriptions of everyday subjects!”
About the artists:
Darden Smith:
“His dozen critically acclaimed albums, recorded from New York to Nashville and London to Los Angeles, weave together rock, pop, country, folk and Americana influences with the musical roots of his home state of Texas. Smith, praised by All Music Guide as “a singer-songwriter blessed with an uncommon degree of intelligence, depth, and compassion,” enjoys broad appeal on both the American and British music scenes. Likened to songwriters such as Nick Drake, John Hiatt, Leonard Cohen and Elvis Costello, Smith is one of contemporary’s music’s most winning and gifted artistic treasures whose consistent creative excellence keeps blossoming.” (https://silverleafbooking.com/artists/darden-smith)
Walt Wilkins:
“Songwriter, singer, traveler, troubadour – the calling I answered, the life I chose, the way I make my way.
I chose to go full time on this road 25 years ago. It’s been a spiritual quest, an amazing trip, at turns heartbreaking & transcendent. In that time I’ve made 9 solo records, 4 records with The Mighty Mystiqueros, 1 with my wife Tina, and there’s a new live record with my friend Kevin Welch. I’ve had 100 or more songs recorded by other artists, traveled a fair part of the world, and had some very, very large times. I have these anchors: Wednesdays with my brothers The Mystiqueros at The Saxon Pub in Austin, the 1st Sunday of every month at Luckenbach, The Red River Songwriters Festival on the last weekend of January in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and Waltstock & Barrel, a Texas wine, beer & music festival near Fredericksburg on the 1st weekend of April. I move around a lot.” (https://www.waltwilkins.com/bio)
