About the artists:
Brent Ryan: “I am a Texas original, born and raised, and that does seem to matter to some folks around the Texas Hill Country where I live and frequently perform. I will say that my roots here in Texas have certainly influenced my songwriting and my “sound”. I cannot think of a better place to draw from a long legacy of top-notch songwriting than this great state of Texas.
When I was young, I had plans to be a youth pastor. I lovingly convinced my mother into purchasing me an acoustic guitar while in high school, as I never knew a youth pastor who was not clad with a guitar ready to lead the masses to beautiful vistas. I still have this goal in mind even if the route is slightly detoured. But anyhow, in no time, I was jamming along to the tunes of Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and our Texas King, George Strait. Country music was an early love.
Everything changed in my college years when more talented friends than I exposed me to the more roots-based Texas music of Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt. Prior I had not realized that literary prose and a good song could be one and the same thing. I had known music that you could dance to, but now I was learning music that told a story. I wanted to tell my own stories, and maybe get a few folks dancing along the journey. (https://brentryanmusic.com/bio)
Randy Palmer: “is a cross between a painter and a poet. I don’t mean fine art but scraping, sanding, priming, make it like new, painter. You see Randy has roots deep inside a bucket. A son of a painting paint contractor, Randy has an ingrown desire to make things beautiful. You read it in his lyrics and you hear it in his voice as he brings his songs to life. Songs from down deep in the bucket, with clean lines, brushed to bring living into a sweeter, better focus. Every song a reflective rendition of life at its most basic core. No apologies for songs close to the heart. Randy celebrates frailties, friendships, and family. Join him for an adventure. A deep dive into the interesting and intoxicating twists and turns of the joy of life.
Exactly, how did Randy’s journey into music begin? The story begins at about 4th grade when Randy’s parents hired Frank Howard, the guitar teacher, to instruct big brother Rick in the art of playing the guitar. Rick was not only a student but also a teacher so he passed the lessons down to his younger sibling. Randy was hooked from the start and his big break came when his Mom plopped him in I front of the console stereo, turned up Johnny Rivers, and said, “Play with this.” And Randy found a chord or two and the backbeat to Maybelline. It was a short while later was that he and Berkeley Dawson wrote new lyrics to Downtown When I’m 64 and Strawberry Fields. From then on Randy began the journey of crafting words and music. Songwriting has been his passion ever since.
Mentors are precious. Randy has been influenced by the greats of James Taylor, John Denver, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Michael Martin Murphy, B W Stevenson, and Jerry Jeff Walker. But it would not be right to not mention the friends and sojourners that have always been there to make it real; Mike Borger, Dennis Garvey, Byron Williamson, David Parks, and Randy Lewis Brown.
Born a long time ago when memories of Dust storms and Ike were fresh. Randy lives with his wife and life partner Ann, Sadie the dog and Pepper the cat in Amarillo, Tx.”
Jeff Wood: From an early age, Jeff was writing and composing his own music. His love for writing led him to the University of Missouri – Kansas City where he excelled, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English.
Teaching himself to play guitar, bass, and piano, Jeff went onto form a band that quickly caught attention, allowing the group to play 100 to 150 shows per year, and tour through 22 states – from California to New York.
With Jeff as the main songwriter, three albums were produced – two of which received regular rotation on major radio stations in the Kansas City Metro Area. Success continued stirring interest with major record labels Columbia, Reprise, Road Runner, Epic, Maverick, and Universal Records.
As the band decided to go separate ways, Jeff embarked on his solo career. Once again he found himself in high demand throughout the Midwest performing between 15 – 25 shows per month for restaurant, bar, corporate, and private clients, garnering accolades and awards as he did so – culminating with an invite to sing on the national television hit: “Nashville Star.”
